  • HURRICANE KATRINA: 10 YEARS OF LESSONS LEARNED

In late-August 2005, Hurricane Katrina decimated the Gulf Coast. Following the storm, universities in the greater New Orleans area were faced with many challenges including resuming normal operations under conditions of high stress. At Loyola University New Orleans longer term effects challenged enrollment and fiscal viability, forced infrastructure changes, and caused unprecedented employee turn-over. August 29, 2015 marked the 10th anniversary of Katrina and her aftermath. This program will share strategies to successfully navigate catastrophic disasters, personal reflections of lessons learned, ideas for talent identification and development, and methods for cross-divisional collaboration during times of limited fiscal and human resources.
